cheri is certified by The White Lotus Foundation in Teacher and Advanced Teacher Training and has been a student of yoga since 1989. She has over 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training and has been teaching Hatha Yoga in the High Desert since 1996. Teaching a fusion of styles and emphasizing traditional Hatha yoga basics, lines of energy and alignment, she guides students in a way that allows them to challenge themselves and make modifications when necessary. From Beginners', Kids' and Seniors' classes to her Power-level classes, she leads with positive motivation, providing students an opportunity to experience yoga in mind, body and soul. Cheri studied with Ganga White and Tracey Rich, whom she feels were her most inspiring teachers. She also studied with Baron Baptiste, Rodney Yee and Gurmukh Kaur Khasla. Cheri also has been a certified American Council of Exercise (ACE) Personal Trainer since 1994. Her unique personal fitness training sessions combine strength training, Pilates and yoga.
debbie a. was introduced to yoga while in college and immediately fell in love with the practice. She is passionate about health and wellness and, during her studies, discovered the many benefits of a regular yoga practice. Debbie has been a Certified Yoga Instructor for three years and teaches Hatha Yoga with an emphasis on asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques). She truly enjoys teaching all levels of yoga. Debbie has a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology and exercise science, as she earned her college BA with a concentration in Kinesiology.
debbie s. has worked in therapeutic occupational settings since 1994 and made a life-changing decision in 2007 to travel to Canada, live in an urban monastery, and study Yoga teacher instruction. She received her Yoga teacher certification at Prana Yoga Teacher College in Vancouver under the instruction of Shakti Mhi, who trained in India. The month-long intensive training focused on clean living, spiritual growth, inner peace, self-improvement, and connection with others—gained through meditation, Yoga postures, and breath. Prana means "life force activated by breath," which is an important aspect of Yoga and life. Debbie has overcome physical limitations through the power of Yoga and would love for you to join her in this journey at Destination Yoga. Her goals in teaching Yoga are to help you manage stress, and gain control of your body, mind, and emotions.
jennifer is of Romani (Gypsy) descent, so you could say bellydancing is in her blood. Her dance career began as a four-year-old when she invaded her mother’s costume jewelry chest for anything sparkly, shiny and jingly with which to attend family get-togethers. It would be 20 years before she took her first proper bellydance class, but she immediately became hooked. A performer and avid student for 11 years, and teacher for the past six, Jennifer continues to study with the most renown instructors on the planet including Farida Fahmi, Mona el Said, Suhaila Salimpour, Rachel Brice, Sharon Kihara, Jill Parker of Ultra Gypsy, Judeen, Alexandra King, Ansuya and others. Jennifer’s teaching style is easy and relaxed, yet classes are challenging, fast-paced and rewarding. She assists students in creating muscle memory by strengthening the mind-body connection needed in these modern times.
tamika has over 900 certified hours of training in bodywork and Eastern arts, including Thai Yoga, for which her mentor was the honored Thai Yoga and Svaroopa Stylist, Patricia Kilpatrick. She has an additional certification in the relation of yoga to sports, and currently is completing her PhD in Natural Health Philosophy. Living life with intention is her constant healing mission as she continues to work toward: achieving personal accomplishments and teacher certifications in various yoga styles; using Assisted Yoga techniques as an innovative way to help students enhance their regular yoga practices; and introducing beginners to the use of calm breathing and gentle stretching to balance exertion with restfulness. |

“Self-knowledge has no end—you don't come to an achievement, you don't come to a conclusion. It is an endless river. As one studies it, as one goes into it more and more, one finds peace. Only when the mind is tranquil—through self-knowledge and not through imposed self-discipline—only then, in that tranquility, in that silence, can reality come in to being.” |
